An independent restaurant & cocktail bar focused on supporting LOCAL
Eight, Baldock, is an independently owned restaurant and bar on Whitehorse Street in the heart of Baldock, Hertfordshire, located between Hitchin, Letchworth and Royston.
Eight is the brainchild of local chef Kish Raheja, who is passionate about supporting everything local. You can read more about his story on our About Us page. Eight is the perfect place for a quiet meal with your loved one, a family get-together for Sunday lunch or a delicious cocktail in our bar.
At our restaurant, we proudly serve locally sourced beef and pork, along with fresh produce from Kish's own allotment, less than a mile from the restaurant. Our fresh seafood is sourced from British waters and caught by day boats whenever possible. The menu reflects a modern Mediterranean influence, and seasonal ingredients, preparing them with minimal fuss to enhance their natural flavours which showcases Kish's unique culinary style.
Everything, except the gelato, is made in-house, demonstrating Kish's commitment to quality, freshness and craftsmanship.
Our bar is also dedicated to showcasing the finest local produce. We proudly stock locally distilled gin, vodka, and rum, along with locally brewed IPAs. Even our unique blend of coffee beans is freshly roasted in the neighbouring village of Weston.
We also have some exciting events throughout each month. Take a look at our upcoming events page to find out more.

Our Bar

Our bar is small yet cosy, perfect for enjoying a hand-crafted cocktail, locally distilled gin, or a glass of wine from our carefully curated wine list. We now also have draught beer available.
If you’re feeling peckish, why not order something from our bar menu?
Due to it’s size, our bar is for walk in customers only, helping us to accommodate as many guests as we can.
Our Sunday Lunch

Sunday is our favourite day of the week! Sundays are all focused around friends, family and loved ones all getting together to enjoy lunch alongside a glass of wine or two! It’s the one meal of the week where phones & tablets are put to one side and we enjoy the food and the company.
Our Sunday Lunch menu utilises the best in locally sourced produce. Our dry-aged beef is from Corneybury Farm, just outside Buntingford, our free-range pork is from Dunmow in Essex & our outdoor reared lamb is from a small holding in South Cambridgeshire. See our locality sourcing page to see just how local our produce is!
Kids menu, vegan and vegetarian options are also available.
Gluten-free roasts can also be prepared with prior notice.
Sunday Lunch is served from 12 noon to 4 p.m. with last reservations at 3.30 p.m. Our bar area is also dog-friendly.

What a lovely place to have dinner in Baldock!
The atmosphere was warm and inviting, all the servers and managers were all in a good mood which made us very excited to experience the food here. The tira misu martini was exceptional. The goat cheese starter was deli but too small for sharing. The gnocchi was tasty too, it’s sure to say everything you’ll have here will be delicious and of high quality! The one note we would have is that it was sometimes hard to get the attention of our server but they were gracious with us when they were with us. I’d love to return soon :)

Had the delicious steak 'as Chef recommends'.
Went to the Themed Wine Dinner night. We were served a delicious 4 course accompanied with fantastic wines and champagne to match each course. A really good quality and standard of food, drink and great atmosphere. Can’t wait for the Spanish-themed night. Had the delicious steak 'as Chef recommends' rare to medium… really tasty and delici8us attention to detail in the sauce and extras. Quality atmosphere and cosy ambience. Lovely to have a restaurant in Baldock like this one.

It's a must-visit when you're in the area!
I visited restaurant Eight in Baldock with a friend and it was truly a memorable experience. Initially we went to have a light bite, but the food was so good that we ended up with a 3-course meal and plenty of delicious cocktails. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Baldock. It's a must-visit when you're in the area!

Cocktails are mixed to perfection.
I've been lucky enough to visit 4 times now. The crispy chicken dumplings and the cod cheeks are favourites of mine. Cocktails are mixed to perfection - the After Eight espresso martini is awesome! If you're going for brunch the pancakes are deliciously light and fluffy, the best I've ever tasted. All topped off with impeccable service from Kish and team!

A fantastic addition to Baldock!
A fantastic addition to Baldock! Everything is homemade, locally sourced and seasonal. With a fine dining twist, handmade cocktails from the brilliant Mixologist and excellent service. We've enjoyed Brunch and Sunday Roasts and cannot recommend enough! You're truly supporting a local family business when you eat or drink here. Definitely try it out - doubtful you'll be disappointed
